You want to be funny and not just funny looking? I can help you with that too. I’ve been teaching comedy writing and stand-up classes for Lane Community College, for writers’ workshops, and with students online and on the phone for more than thirteen years. I have also founded two comedy events that will give you plenty of opportunities to make people laugh!
Whether you’re trying to improve your speaking skills so you don’t put the whole audience (including yourself) asleep again, trying to generate new funny ideas for a script or novel, or just want to impress your classmates at your high school reunion, I can help. I’ve helped everyone from University presidents to a Miss America contestant – chances are, you fall somewhere between those two!
If you want to write funnier scripts, novels, columns, and ransom notes; tailor your comedy writing for a specific audience (perimenopausal women, teenage boys, Mormon/Southern Baptist/Reincarnationists…); avoid the high cost of therapy; my services may be just what you need. E-mail me a lajfun@accidentalcomic.com or give me a call at 541/688-1674 to see how I can help.
"Workshop" is really a misnomer for these fun interactive sessions. I like to call them "Playshops," but that seems to confuse many grown-ups. Until they are trying to make the ultimate stress management device out of a Slinky and some Silly Putty or learning to write their complaints on an Etch-a-Sketch. The more time you have to give over to having fun and letting go of the terminal seriousity that seems to have so many of us in its grip, the more productive, creative, and happy you will be at the end of the day. And for weeks and months afterward...
Please contact Leigh Anne about getting on her mailing list for upcoming workshops, or about designing a workshop for your employees.
Every term except summer, Leigh Anne teaches the class, Stand Up and Make Them Laugh, for Lane Community College's Continuing Education Department. The class is ten weeks long, three hours in the evenings, and culminates with a performances on stage. Students learn how to write and perform comedy, including musical comedy, prop comedy, and physical comedy. Contact Lane Community College to sign up, but you can e-mail Leigh Anne for further info.
Leigh Anne's comedy troupe, The Comedy Workout, performs approximately every other Saturday at Diablo's Downtown Lounge in Eugene. Shows begin at 8 p.m. and the cover is $5. For more information, please e-mail Leigh Anne.
